what is binary?
Binary is a numeric system which uses two numerals to represent all real numbers. While the most common counting system, the decimal system, uses ten numerals, binary uses only 0 and 1.
What do you notice about the number of dots on the cards?
How many dots would the next card have if we carried on to the left?
We can use these cards to make numbers by turning some of them face down and adding up the dots that are showing.
Activity 1 - Binary Cards Click on the cards and use your set of cards to make the number 6. Change the 0 in the boxes underneath to a 1 if you place a card in the box. This is the binary number.
Now try to make the numbers 15 & 21. Can you make the numbers 3, 12 and 19?
