Computer screens are divided up into a grids of small dots called pixels, (picture elements). In a black and white picture, each pixel is either black or white and all the computer needs to know is which are black and which are white.
The letter "a" has been made bigger to show the pixels. The numbers next to the image are the number of black and white pixels in each row of the letter. A computer ALWAYS startes each row by counting the white pixels first, if a row doesn't have a white pixel at the beginning then the computer puts a zero (0 ) at the beginning of that row. (look at rows 4 & 5)
Activity 1
You can either download and save the following word document or you can print it off you decide which is easier for you to work from.
Pixel image instructions
Once have the document then go to this website and see if you can create an image using the numbers of black and white pixels from the instructions. Take screen shots of your completed pictures and save them in your ICT folder so that you can upload them to your Weebly website later. There are three pictures to make.
